Ted Rinehart’s Debut Album, “Don’t Ever Let Them Tell You Otherwise”
Announcing the first studio album from Ted Rinehart
April 24th, 2023 (Brooklyn, NY)
“Don’t Ever Let Them Tell You Otherwise” consists of twelve original tracks featuring Rich Hinman (St. Vincent, Tanya Tucker, k.d. Lang) on pedal steel, Nashville’s Trevor deClercq on bass and piano, and the album’s producer Bryan Wizemann on drums. All songs were written and performed by Ted Rinehart and reflect a time during which he was a stay-at-home dad during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Don’t Ever Let Them Tell You Otherwise” was recorded at Bryan’s home in Brooklyn, NY and is the result of bandmates learning how to record and produce music together on the fly.
Ted notes, “If you’ve ever had a conversation with me over a few beers, I’ve probably told you that I’d like to make a record someday. And not just pay for some studio time, but actually make something with people that care about music. It’s an honor of a lifetime to announce that that wish has come to pass. “Don’t Ever Let Them Tell You Otherwise” is the first full-length album I’ve ever made. On the one hand, it’s the culmination of a lifetime spent trying to write songs. On the other hand, it’s a document of what it was like to become a father at the beginning of a once-in-a-generation pandemic. “Don’t Ever Let Them Tell You Otherwise” is populated with fictional characters. Some people have asked me which songs are about my wife and family. (Almost) none of them are. But I take my real feelings for them and use those to give life to characters in my head. I’ve never been more proud of the music that I’ve made.” Part Americana, part Folk Rock, part Alt-Country Ted’s music is in conversation with some of the great traditions of American music while having new things to say as a songwriter living in a place where the cultural streams of the world converge in the turbulence of the 21st century.

About Ted Rinehart
Ted Rinehart was born and raised in Denver. He moved to New York City in 2012 to pursue his dream of not knowing what he wanted to do with his life. Ted has been a songwriter since he was 16 and for the better part of a decade he played solo acoustic shows around Denver. Ted’s music has been described as American. Or was it Americana? He can’t remember. All he knows is that the first time he heard Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, and Gillian Welch when he was a teenager, his life would never be the same.
SARS-CoV-2, fatherhood, and being unemployed gave Ted a real sense of urgency about Life and about his music. (If Gillian ran back into that studio to save all that stuff from a tornado what was Ted waiting for? Have I mentioned Ted really likes Gillian Welch?) It was during those pandemic times that Ted and his buddy Bryan Wizemann - filmmaker, teacher, drummer - figured out they could play music together, make records, and pursue their shared dream of being Americana dad-rock superstars.
“Don’t Ever Let Them Tell You Otherwise” is Ted’s declarative statement to his daughter, Eleanor. Afterall, an album is a record. It’s there to set a few things straight and etch them in stone. Recorded at Bryan’s home in Brooklyn, NY Ted hopes you enjoy the album and if you have a chance you should check out Ted and Bryan play live sometime. It’ll probably change your life. Short of that, it’s a pretty good time.
